Are you prepared if the “money machine” breaks?

We as working individuals need to prepare for if the "money machine" goes out of order or breaks all together. When I refer to "money machine," I am referring to anyone who brings income into the house. If and when the money machine breaks, how are the bills going to get paid?

Unfortunately, every 7 seconds, someone in the U.S. suffers an illness or a major accident that will keep them out of work for 1 or more months. This could be crucial to a household financially. Having talked to many families, I have found they are better prepared financially for death than for disability.

In addition, most people think that Social Security Disability will be their backup plan, but they do not realize how difficult this process can be - it can take months just to begin the process. A lot can happen in a household without the income of one person in a few months. Disability insurance will take away some of those concerns.

_ A 35 year old has a 50% chance of becoming disabled for a 90-day period or longer before age 65
_ 68% of Americans say that most people need disability insurance and yet only 30% have it.
_ Women are more likely than men to be out of work for more than 3 months due to increased risk of heart disease and child birth.

Watch Monica Soltes told the Council of Disability Awareness her life story and how disability insurance could have changed everything.
